Between his drug suspension, money laundering woes and UFC hiatus, most assumed Chael Sonnen would have better things to do than enlighten the MMA world on what took place Saturday at UFC 126. Then again, we are talking about “Uncle Chael,” the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s ultimate antagonist.

Sonnen took middleweight champ Anderson Silva to brink of defeat at UFC 117 last August. However, Silva’s Hail Mary was answered at the 11th hour to salvage his seventh consecutive title defense. Since the devastating loss, Sonnen’s life has quickly spiraled downward.

Instead of facing Yoshihiro Akiyama next month at UFC 128, Sonnen will be preparing to cop a plea in a federal courthouse. The controversial middleweight is hoping to receive two years probation and a $10,000 fine.

The one-time political hopeful will be sentenced on March 28th, nine days after he was to face the Japanese star.

Although his sabbatical isn’t scheduled to end anytime soon, Sonnen insists he’s still the world’s top 185-pounder. He reaffirmed his believe on his confirmed/unconfirmed Twitter account hours before Silva unleashed a Steven Seagal-inspired front kick to floor Vitor Belfort on Saturday.

“Big night! We get to find out who the #2 and #3 Middleweights in the business are,” Sonnen posted.

Although “The Spider” cemented his spot as the division’s G.O.A.T. by bumping his record to 28-4, with 21 of his wins coming via devastating finish, Sonnen claims more chinks were exposed in his armor this past Saturday.

Here is what Sonnen told PaulLazenby.com after Silva unloaded the front kick heard ‘round the world:

 “Thank you, Anderson, for revealing yet another weakness for me to exploit in our rematch. Beating that poor punching bag doesn’t impress Uncle Chael, guy. You tipped your hand like a chump poker player at a $5 table in Atlantic City.

 You may have beaten Vitor, but in the process, you LOST your edge. By beating that husk, you gave me the last page of your playbook. Revel in your time, [because] it ENDS the night you face me.

 I will mow you down like autumn wheat, AGAIN.”
