KARACHI: Australian trade will be competitive on commercial basis and Australia can contribute in breed varieties, dairy processing technology, and exploration of coal and infrastructure development, said High Commissioner of Australia in Pakistan Timothy George.
He assured support for the business link between the two countries and stressed the need to tackle the matters related to development assistance, integrity issues, counter terrorism and money laundering.
The first Pakistan Australia joint trade meeting was held in 2006 and they have revived the Joint Committee talks with the government of Pakistan, which is in the benefit of both the countries for deepening the bilateral trade relations. “Australia is a very low tariff country and from January 2010, textile tariff further came down, and Pakistani businessmen should take advantage of this”, he added.
Vice president FPCCI, Zakaria Usman and other members discussed matters related to the trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Australia.
The meeting stressed and further strengthening of the bilateral trade ties, as bilateral trade between Pakistan and Australia is very low and is in the favuor of Australia.
