Senior Partner at AB & David Africa, David Ofosu-Dorte, has called for law firms to prioritise training their lawyers on anti-money laundering practices and how to identify potential warning signs of illicit financial activities.
Speaking at the Ghana Bar Association’s 2025 Mid-Year Conference, Ofosu-Dorte emphasised the crucial role lawyers play in combating corruption and money laundering.
He highlighted the importance of law firms implementing systems that support the identification and reporting of financial crimes.
“Now we are subject to the law on anti-money laundering and financial intelligence, and we are persons who are supposed to report.
“We are a very key part in ensuring that anti-corruption, etc, but it is only when the bar puts in place systems and standards that can guide us,” he said.
