Man arrested for money laundering after trooper finds $86k

CARSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on I-40, which yielded almost $86,000 in U.S. currency.
At approximately 1:53 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Honda Odyssey traveling eastbound on I-40 for a traffic violation near Groom in Carson County.
The driver of the Odyssey was identified as Nathaniel Medina, 30, of Eason, Penn. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered a concealed compartment containing three bundles of U.S. currency.
Median was placed under arrest for money laundering, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The concealed cash was allegedly being transported from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, N.Y.
