Fri, Sep 19, 2014
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The president of a Barboursville pharmacy has pleaded not guilty to drug and money laundering charges.
Kofe Ohene Agyekum, 36, entered the plea to the 40-count indictment in Huntington federal court on Wednesday, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's Office.
The indictment returned in September charges him with four drug charges and 36 money laundering counts. Agyekum is the director and president of KAYPAT Medical Inc., which did business as A + Care Pharmacy in Barboursville.
The indictment alleged Agyekum conspired to distribute oxycodone and hydromorphone pills from August 2013 to July 2013 and deposited the proceedings from the drugs in various banks to conceal the source of the cash. The indictment also seeks a forfeiture of more than $2 million in cash and a luxury vehicle if he is convicted.
A trial date has been set for Nov. 18.
