Muscat: The personnel of the Customs Department at the Muscat International Airport on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle five kilograms of heroin into Oman. 

An official source from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that the customs personnel became suspicious of an unclaimed bag left in the luggage collection area as no one came to collect the same. 

On inspection, heroin was found hidden inside the bag. ROP personnel managed to identify and arrest the accused, who confessed to his crime.
