A NELSON sergeant charged with money laundering and perverting the course of justice has been sacked from the force.
Salim Razaq, 32, was a serving officer based in the East Lancashire town, but was dismissed at a special case hearing on Wednesday, held by Merseyside Chief Constable John Murphy.
The sacked officer also faces multiple firearms charges and misconduct in a public office.
The allegations followed a series of raids at his home in Walton-le-Dale and other addresses in Preston and Nelson by investigating officers in March.
The Serious and Organised Crime Unit, led by Assistant Chief Constable Andy Cooke, arrested eight people and seized money, firearms and amm-unition.
Razaq, who was remanded in custody in April, was not present at the hearing.
But he was represented by Lancashire Police Federation.
