RANCHI: A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Tuesday issued non bailable warrant against Menan Ekka, wife of former state tourism minister Enos Ekka, in alleged money laundering case. The court issued warrant against Menan as she has been evading summons of enforcement directorate to appear before the court for trial of the case related to money laundering of around Rs 8.5 crore.
"The former minister used to make huge investment in companies in name of Menan and her appearance in the PMLA court is very important for trial of the money laundering case," said a source in enforcement directorate which is investigating the case. Menan is evading appearance for more than a year.
An officer in ED said that Menan is evading appearance because her deposition will go against her husband. Menan, who is president of Simdega district council, has not gone to office for the last three months.
At present the former minister is on bail and he regularly appears in the PMLA court.
