PITTSBURGH — A former Moon Township resident has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for his contributions to a cross-country cocaine enterprise that supplied drug dealers in Allegheny and Beaver counties for six years, according to the United State Attorney’s office.
Ricky Riley, 48, who lived at 1204A Maple Street Extension, Moon Township, was sentenced to 140 months in prison by United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti. In January, he pleaded guilty to charges of drug distribution and money laundering.
The cocaine network was based in Pasadena, Cal., and supplied dealers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana and Georgia. Riley was responsible for transporting cocaine to western Pennsylvania, and for returning the money to California, according to U.S. Attorney Robert Cessar’s statement.
In 2007, at the time of Riley’s arrest, the U.S. Attorney’s office said Riley brought cocaine and marijuana into western Pennsylvania by airplane and truck. He was accused of arranging a truck that, after being stopped in Texas, was found to be carrying 250 pounds of marijuana and six kilograms of cocaine. A Pittsburgh-based federal Drug Enforcement Administration task force tracked Riley through surveillance and telephone wire taps.
